Why DailyBaseBallData.com?
With the ever increasing popularity of daily fantasy baseball contests and baseball betting, full season statistical projections and weekly schedule analysis are no longer enough. Players need tools to help evaluate and forecast what will happen in today’s games. How will performance be affected by factors such as the weather, the opposing starting pitcher, and team lineups? Daily Baseball Data was created to help players analyze and answer these questions.
Much of the information found on in this site is already publicly available. But it’s often not packaged in a manner that’s convenient to use and analyze, requiring multiple, repetitive link clicks to access the information that’s most useful. As is also often the case with the affiliated site RotoGuru.net, DailyBaseballData.com attempts to organize and package data in a way that enhances the information content and facilitates accessibility with a minimum of clicks. As fantasy players, Dave and Alex first seek to build tools that are most useful to themselves as fantasy managers. And if they use these tools for their daily personal team management decisions, others should find them beneficial as well.
Who produces this site?
Alex Zelvin is a software product manager by day, and a fantasy baseball addict by night. He currently manages or co-manages two fantasy baseball websites: The Waiver Wire and of course, Daily Baseball Data. In addition, he works part time as a consultant for FanDuel.com. He has written for The Hardball Times, The Sporting News, and a variety of other blogs and websites. The crowning achievement of Alex's fantasy sports career (so far) was winning a car for finishing in 1st place in Rotohog's 2008 Fantasy Baseball contest.
Dave Hall has independently and continuously produced the RotoGuru network of sites since late 1997, starting the venture shortly after he retired from a 21+ year career as a life actuary and investment portfolio manager. His most notable fantasy sports successes have come in salary cap games, including first place finishes in games sponsored by The Sporting News (and their predecessor, Small World Sports), Progressive Sports Challenge, Major League Market, and others. He also scored a “Top-10 trifecta” by finishing in the top 10 in the first season (2007-2008) of each of RotoHog’s three primary sports: Baseball, Football, and Basketball.
Chris Gresham runs the fantasy football site Razzball and writes for Bears Blitz on NFL.com and occasionally for the baseball side of Razzball and now right here at Daily Baseball Data. He has many jobs that are way too exciting and numerous to list here, but he did win $10K in Salary Cap Football at Sporting News before it went defunct, which he turned around and spent with abandon.
